On Saturday, August 26th, 2023, Remember Everyone Deployed (RED) will be hosting a Candlelight Vigil in honor of the 13 Military Members that were killed in Kabul on August 26th, 2021, marking the 2nd Anniversary of their ultimate sacrifice. All are welcome to attend. The ceremony will begin at 1900 at the Vietnam Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, NC. This year, the memorial will be hosted by retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Raquel Painter. The appointed keynote speakers will be Corporal Krysten Kagels and Corporal David Austin, Marines who served and knew Sgt Nicole Gee. Speeches will also be given by North Carolina Senator Michael A. Lazzara, Swansboro Mayor John Davis, and Onslow City Commissioner Cindy Edwards.
